Purim is a Jewish holiday that commemorates the deliverance of the
Jewish people in the ancient Persian Empire from destruction in the wake
of a plot by Haman, a story recorded in the Biblical Book of Esther (Megillat Esther).
One of the main traditions of this holiday is fancy-dress parties and
various carnivals. Fairies, butterflies and spidermen are ordinary in
the streets of Beer Sheva on this day. Both adults and children
participate in the holiday. In fancy dresses they study and work and
simply have fun..
