On the opposite side from Hart Island and Boldt castle there is a house
for yachts located on Wellesley Island, built by Boldt in 1899, one
year before the start of the castle construction. This construction is
included into the American National Register of historic places and
protected by law as an architectural heritage.
Today in this building there exists and works the Boldt museum of river craft.
Models of boats of the end of XIXth - beginning of the XXth centuries.
Special pride of the museum: a steam 63 foots vessel 'Kestrel' built in 1892 and donated to the museum in 2009.
The vessel was finished in redwood as it was fashionable those years.
