Mono Lake is situated in the east of Central California. On the southern bank of the lake is a small settlement Lee Vinning.
The lake is 1945 m above the sea level. Its area is 150km2. The average depth - 43 m. There are some islands on the lake.
Mono Lake is very salty so no fish lives in it.
On its banks there live more than 2 million birds, that is not less than 35 species.
In 2009 unique bacteria was found in the lake.
