Versailles For 20 Minutes

Palace of Versailles construction began in 1661 and had been lasted for 50 years.
Today we'll see what the French have managed to build, get new ideas for our apartments or a house renovation and look out of the window to compare the view with those we see everyday.

Gates are seen from afar

Behind them - a marble yard and upcoming renovation

Yes, white-black marble!

Japanese and Chinese are the most numerous and attentive visitors.

But not all the rooms may be entered, keepers are watching you!

These antique handles are special eye-pleasure.

Not clear why they havem't been stolen.

Local celebrities are made in marble.

Versailles today is a must see sight of the city. Not less than 10 buses are always parked at the palace.

Average cost of a visit with a guide  - 60-80 euros.

But it doesn't make sense... at the entry a ticket costs 17 euros and services of a guide speaking your language is free...
All invoices related to the palace construction have been preserved till today. The sum covering all expenses is equal to 25 725 836 livres. (one livre was equal to 409 g of silver), that in general amounted to 10 500 tons of silver. To count it in the modern way is almost impossible. Based on the cost of silver - 250 euros per 1 kg, the construction of the palace swallowed 2,6 billion euros. Nearly the half of this sum was spent for the inner decorations. They were created by best masters of that time. All these expenses were allocated for 50 years, till 1710 when the construction was finally over.

The toilet is not that clean and good...

If you have enough time to walk on the territory you may see hectares of Trianon.

From another side the gates are not so golden...
