Ibiza, An Island Of Entertainment

Have you ever been to Ibiza? It is a Spanish island in the Mediterranean Sea 79 km off the coast of the city of Valencia in Spain.

The island is well-known for its summer club parties which attract large numbers of tourists, but the island and the Spanish Tourist Office have been working in order

to promote more family-oriented tourism.

A medieval fortress with heavy walls and houses around is the main sight of the place.

100 years before the start of the new era the island was occupied by the Romans. Broken statues remind us of the long period of their reign.

Labyrinth of narrow streets lead to the most upper part of the hill where a hotel is at the stage of construction.

The cathedral temple of Ibiza served as a place of worship for 2000 years. It used to be a temple devoted to Mercury. When Ibiza was conquered by Arabs, a mosque was built on its ruins. The Catalans destructed the mosque and constructed a temple which is there till now. The unapproachable citadel was wared down only because the sheik's brother showed the enemies a secret way to the temple.

A monument to General Vara de Rey. He was born in Ibiza in the Balearic Islands in 1840. He graduated as a second lieutenant from the Colegio general ascending to the rank of first lieutenant in 1862. Vara de Rey fought against uprisings in Cartagena and Valencia and against the Carlists.

Ibiza is famous for its clubs. Among other advantages qualitative sound, many guards, and large areas need to be mentioned. Space Club can be attended by 15000 people. It has both tiny and large dancing halls with music for any taste. Ushuaia is not a club in the plain sense but a more hotel. People can dance standing on their balconies. Planes were landing not far from the place in time with music. By the way, an entrance ticket costs 40-60 Euros.
