The Museum of the Latvian History

Let's visit a Latvian museum situated in a powder tower of a city fortress which hasn't been preserved till now. Latvia is a young state in the historical sense but its territory used to be divided between counts and kingdoms and had much to do with an army.

9-13 centuries.

At that time the country was inhabited by such spearmen.

More serious approach to protection.

Different arms details.

Examples of stamps.

Weapon of the epoch.

Drawing of artillery-type weapon of those times.

The war was over and Latvia became a Soviet republic. The Red Army carried out the functions of its fighting forces.

'Long live the Soviet Youth, the happiest youth in the world!'

A separate hall is devoted to the Soviet period.

'To the winner of a socialistic contest'

Modern Latvian soldiers.

And some other exhibits like the military medal.
